👀 What makes our exam papers so special?

Each of our courses include practice exam papers that have been written by the official examiners for your exam board, exclusively for Up Learn.

Each exam paper has a mark scheme with detailed explanations/model answers so that you can mark your own work. Learning exactly how an examiner thinks and what they're looking is essential in helping you master your subject.

The papers are designed to precisely mimic your actual exams, not just in the format but in the exact topics, difficulty levels and question styles that you'll actually have on exam day.

We take into account what topics are likely to be asked by examiners writing the exams for this year, to give you the best possible preparation.

⏲️ When should I start on exam papers?

Please note that if you are on a free trial, you can only access one paper. To access more, you'll have to fully enrol in the course.

You can work on exam papers at anytime but we do recommend the best time to start these is when your Up Score is around 50%-60%. We actually cap your Up Score here so you'll find it won't go up any further unless you get going with some papers.

✍️ How do I complete an exam paper?

Step 1: Click on 'Exam papers' near the top of your course page, click on one to begin and tick the box to agree to the Up Learn honour code to get started.

Step 2: Answer the exam questions against the clock, just like the real exam

Step 3: Mark (and save!) the exam paper in the same session

TOP TIP! Some of our papers require you to hand-write the answers, others give you the option to input these into the system (but you can also hand-write them as well if you would prefer to). However you choose to do it, make sure you log your marks in the Up Learn system or your exam paper won't count towards your Up Score.

💪 How do exam papers impact Up Score?

You might find that your Up Score drops a little after completing your first paper. This is because it's your first attempt so naturally you're likely to score a little less well. Don't worry, simply make time to redo it and get a better score. If your Up Score doesn't increase much or at all after doing an exam paper, then you probably just need to head back to the course and do a bit more work on the topics.

The idea is to keep redoing papers and aiming to beat your score each time. The most recent score replaces your previous one (providing it's the same paper).

TOP TIP! Sometimes it takes up to ~30 seconds for the paper to register once you click 'submit'. Be patient, do not click off the page or try refreshing it - you might lose your work! If you do lose a paper before it's submitted, there's no way of us retrieving that - simply redo it. The extra practice will only benefit you anyway and you can always skip past some of the questions straight to the marking.
