βAlexβοΈ Physics | π« Academic achievementsBSc Physics, The University of Manchester
β¨ Tutoring highlightMy favourite part about tutoring students is helping them to understand complicated topics so they can answer questions for themselves.
π Top tipRather than trying to remember formulas, try to understand the physical explanation of what's going on. |
Alexπ§ͺ Chemistry
| π« Academic achievementsMSc Chemistry, University of Oxford
β¨ Tutoring highlightMy favourite part about tutoring students is the achievement you feel and the gratefulness students show when you are able to break down a tricky concept and explain it in a way they understand. Chemistry questions can often be very complex but when a student is able to understand the methods to use through my explanations and then feels comfortable in applying them to new questions it is very rewarding.
π Top tipI would say a top tip for Chemistry is to do lots of practice questions. The best way to learn the concepts and apply them is through trying yourself, and if it is particularly difficult then the tutors are always there to help. |

π Top tipFocus on understanding how concepts relate to each other, maintaining a βbig pictureβ focus! |
βMercyπ§ͺ Chemistry | π« Academic achievementsBS Information Technology with a Minor in Chemistry and Neuroscience, The University of North Carolina
β¨ Tutoring highlightI love when students move beyond memorizing facts and start asking deeper questions, like why an enzyme works the way it does, or what might happen if a certain variable changed. That curiosity shows theyβre not just studying for exams, theyβre learning to critically think like scientists. And whether they become scientists or not, that kind of thinking will benefit them wherever they go!
π Top tipChemistry and Biology require application, donβt just memorize! Explain concepts out loud as if youβre teaching them. If you can teach it simply and explain the why, you truly understand it. |
βMunaπ± Biology | π« Academic achievementsBSc Hons Natural Sciences, University of East Anglia
β¨ Tutoring highlightMy favourite part about tutoring is witnessing that "aha" moment when a challenging concept finally clicks for a student. It is incredibly rewarding to see their confidence grow as their understanding grows.

β
βTheoπ Maths | π« Academic achievementsMBBS Medicine, University College London
β¨ Tutoring highlightI really love watching a student go from not knowing how to tackle a question to feeling really confident in doing it all by themselves. It gives me a sense of privilege to watch someone grow in confidence in their own ability.
π Top tipRemember they can change whatever they want with the question or give you something unfamiliar, but they can never change the science. Read the question carefully and look for clues that might help link back to something you already know. |
βTomβοΈ Physics | π« Academic achievementsBSAE Aerospace Engineering Physics, University of Colorado Boulder
β¨ Tutoring highlightI love tutoring physics because the more you understand it the more rewarding it becomes. This makes it a real pleasure to help students grapple with the difficult ideas it presents and gain a deeper understanding of them.
π Top tipMy Top Tip for physics would always be to try and identify the fundamental principle(s) that relate to the question. From there, break the question down to approach it step by step and make it more manageable. |
βUbhayπ± Biology | π« Academic achievementsLLB Law, Imperial College London
β¨ Tutoring highlightThe most rewarding part is seeing students develop a genuine love for the subject, especially when everything suddenly clicks into place. Itβs a great feeling to be part of that journey.
π Top tipThe key to success is developing a strong understanding of the content. One of the best ways to do this is by asking questions. Focus on understanding the reasoning behind concepts: why something happens, why it works that way, and why we use certain methods. This approach makes it much easier to tackle challenging application questions with confidence. |
βVivienπ§ͺ Chemistry | π« Academic achievementsBSc Hons Health and Life Sciences, University of Groningen
β¨ Tutoring highlightWhat I love most about tutoring is the range of questions students bring, it keeps things interesting! But the best part is seeing their progress over time and hearing their excitement when they tell us where theyβre off to after graduation π
π Top tipTop study tip for biology and chemistry: Do a little every day. It really adds up! And if something doesnβt make sense right away, thatβs totally normal. Take a break, clear your head, and come back to it with fresh eyes. Understanding often clicks the second (or third!) time around. |
