Tracking your XP and productive hours helps you see the effort and time you’re putting into your studies. Using these metrics, along with your Up Score, gives you a clear picture of your progress, keeps you motivated, and helps you build strong study habits for exam success 💪

What are XP and productive hours?

XP (experience points) are a reward for effort. You earn XP whenever you engage with activities on Up Learn, like watching lessons, answering questions, or attempting exam papers. Think of XP as a fun way to measure your effort 🎉

Productive hours are different - they show the actual time you’ve spent actively working on the platform. This gives you a clear, accurate record of your study time ⏱️

To track your understanding and progress, focus on your Up Score. XP and hours show effort and time, but your Up Score is the best measure of mastery and exam readiness 🎯

How do I gain XP?

You earn XP by engaging with the platform - completing activities and lessons 💻

Gain XP by:

✅Logging in to Up Learn

✅Watching video lessons and summaries

✅Answering quiz questions and in-video questions

✅Attempting exam questions and papers

✅Using Refresh Knowledge and Strengthen

Correct answers in quizzes and high scores on exam papers will earn you more XP than incorrect ones 📈

Your XP will remain the same if you:

❌ Don't log in and use Up Learn

❌ Don't revisit or strengthen modules

❌ Repeat content you’ve recently answered correctly

Heads up! 🙌 If you’ve already completed a question or activity in the last month and nailed it, you won’t earn XP for it again. But if you head back to that content after a month, you’ll gain XP because the memory decay will have set in. That’s just the platform helping you focus on fresh challenges! ✨

How are my productive hours tracked?

Productive hours are automatically tracked in the background whenever you’re working on Up Learn - it’s the actual time you’ve spent learning.

Your hours are tracked for:

⭐Completing video lessons

⭐Watching summaries

⭐Answering quiz questions

⭐Using Refresh Knowledge and Strengthen

Note: Exam features like exam questions and exam papers don’t currently contribute to your productive hours, but you’ll still earn XP for completing them 💡

How can I track my XP and hours?

Head to the notifications page (bell icon, top right) to see your total XP 🔔 This shows every point you’ve earned since you first started on Up Learn, including exam practice - your full XP journey so far 🙌

On your notifications page, you’ll also see a detailed breakdown of your XP activities - plus any updates from mark checks you’ve requested, so it’s worth checking in often 👀

Your weekly XP and productive hours are shown on your courses page, just above your modules 🔎 This gives you a snapshot of how much time and effort you’ve put in each week.

Both your weekly XP and productive hours reset every Monday (Monday–Sunday cycle) ⏰

How can I set my daily XP goal and what is my streak?

In any module, use ‘Manage goal’ to set your daily XP target. Each day you reach it, your streak grows 🔥 Miss it once, and your streak resets to 0.

Daily XP goals are a great way to build consistency and keep momentum. Stick to them, and you’ll be well on track to build the habits that lead to a 90%+ Up Score before exams 💪

How quickly will my XP and hours update?

Instantly! 🙌 As soon as you complete an activity, your XP and hours are added and show up on your notification page and courses page right away 🎯
