Setting assignments is the perfect way to plan learning in advance, keep your class on track, and target the areas they need most help with. This guide shows you exactly how to assign and manage work across your classes – all in just a few clicks! 🚀
How do I assign my classes work?
Set assignments week to week for all of your classes. Head to the Departments page and choose your class, then click on ‘+ Assign’ for This Week in your Class page.
From there:
✍ Choose the module and section you’d like your students to complete
⌛ View the estimated time to complete the section
📂 Select all the classes you want to assign it to
📅 Set the start and due dates to plan ahead
You can also set an assignment from anywhere on the platform - just click ‘Create assignment’ ✨
How do I know what sections are available to assign?
You can quickly see which sections in Up Learn have already been assigned and which are still available. This helps you know exactly where you are in the course 👏
To set assignments using this view:
🏫 Head to the Departments page. You’ll see helpful insights, including:
A bar showing overall course mastery and memory decay
The average number of sections mastered weekly
📖 Select your class, then choose ‘Show unassigned’ sections to see a list of available sections that haven’t yet been assigned to the class
👍 Choose Assign to set the section
All assignments will share the same availability dates, but you can edit these later if needed (see below) ⬇️
How do I manage my assignments?
You can manage all your classes’ assignments either from the Assignments page or the Class page.
On the Assignments page, you’ll see every live, scheduled, and past assignment across all your classes. Edit dates by clicking into a live or scheduled assignment, or delete assignments to remove them from your students’ tasklist 🗑️
From the Class page, you can focus on a single class, hovering over an assignment’s date to bring up editing and preview options ✏️

How many assignments should I set per week?
We recommend setting 1–2 assignments per week, along with regular Refresh Knowledge weekly. This approach helps students manage new content without feeling overwhelmed, as well as reinforce previous learning to prevent memory decay and keep decay below 5%.
By balancing new assignments with review sessions, students can stay on track and retain knowledge more effectively ⭐
