If you’ve been working hard on your course but your Up Score is going up slowly, don’t worry! Your score is designed to reflect mastery and understanding, so let’s check if you’re doing everything you can to keep it climbing 🪜

What should I be doing to increase my Up Score?

Complete all the videos and quizzes

The best way to make solid progress is to ensure you’ve watched every video and completed all section quizzes at least once. Don’t stress too much about getting every answer correct on the first go - focus on covering all the material. If you’ve done this, you should naturally reach around 50-60% 🏋️

Get the answers right when redoing quizzes

If you’re reattempting quizzes, Up Score will only increase if you’re answering correctly. Simply repeating quizzes won’t boost your score unless you’re demonstrating improvement 📈

⚠️ Tip: Give your brain time to absorb the material! Spacing out your attempts allows memory decay to set in, making Strengthening much more effective. Repeating the same quizzes back-to-back won’t boost your Up Score.

Complete exam papers

Once you’ve reached around 50-60%, Up Score won’t increase further until you tackle at least one exam paper. This unlocks the potential to move beyond 60% - and the more papers you practice, the more confident you’ll be for the real thing! Keep redoing them and aiming for higher scores to continue increasing Up Score 🔓

How do I push my Up Score from 60% to 90%?

✍️ You should now have attempted at least one exam paper - give it a go if you haven’t already!

🎥 Watch any remaining videos and complete any untouched quizzes

🟢 Go back to sections that aren’t fully green and Strengthen until they are - at this stage, you need to be getting all answers correct

🔄 Regularly refresh to keep your scores on green and maintain mastery

What if I’ve watched all the summary videos but my score did not go up?

Summary videos are great for revision but do not contribute to Up Score ⛔

What if I’m doing exam questions but my Up Score is not going up?

Exam questions by topic (the ones you find at the top of the page next to exam papers) do not contribute to Up Score (but they still make excellent practice).

Exam how-tos and Exam technique questions do contribute. Biology’s Exam Practice Questions also count towards your Up Score. Read some more about those here!

What if I’m doing a lot of work on Up Learn but my Up Score is moving slowly?

🔊 Big courses take longer to progress – subjects like Chemistry have a lot of content, so Up Score may increase more slowly, especially for Year 13 topics.

📚 With more content, there’ll be smaller jumps – Year 13 has more content to cover, so each completed section contributes a bit less to your overall score compared to Year 12.

📄 Exam papers are game-changers – scoring well on exam papers can significantly boost your Up Score, so make sure to tackle them!

🎯 Exam How-Tos matter – if your course includes ‘Exam How-Tos,’ completing them can have a big impact on your Up Score.

By following these steps, your Up Score will continue rising. You can read some more about how to increase your Up Score here. Keep going - you’re on the path to success! 🚀
